Austin, TX — July 18, 2018 — Select Communications, a rapidly growing provider of cloud, network, and unified communications (UC) services, announces it has acquired GCI Conferencing, Inc., a provider of audio, video and web conferencing technologies. After breaking into three new markets in 2017, Austin-based Select Communications now extends its reach into Florida to widen support for its customers with a larger service footprint and added expertise from GCI Conferencing. Customers of GCI Conferencing can now access a broader suite of collaboration technologies. As organizations are confronted with trends like bring-your-own-device and geographically distributed teams, Select Communications — bolstered by decades of experience from GCI Conferencing — aims to solve collaboration challenges with UC technologies.
The most thrilling part of the acquisition, according to Select Communications CEO Jerry Goldman, is the knowledge the GCI Conferencing team brings to the table.
“The GCI staff brings a tremendous amount of experience to our organization,” said Goldman. “Not only will they be fantastic additions to our team, but they will also enable us to deliver an unparalleled customer experience backed by more expertise and support than ever before.”
GCI’s staff and customer base are being absorbed by Select Communications, giving customers new access to extensive UC, cloud phone and network services. On the customer service end, the transition is seamless. All existing points of contact and operational processes for billing and technical support remain the same — the only thing changing is the name on the invoice.
According to Barry Spofford, executive vice president and co-founder of GCI Conferencing, the decision to join forces with Select Communications was a people decision as much as a business one.
“The Select team values their existing customers more than making the next sale — which has been GCI’s philosophy from the start,” explained Spofford. “Having the opportunity to join a larger organization that does business the right way and offers customers a broader suite of solutions is truly a ‘one-plus-one-equals-three’ situation.”
